Turn ideas into work, and the outcome of work into knowledge
DiceTeam is being built to manage the path from idea to outcome: proposals are recorded and weighed, decisions become projects and tasks, delivery and approval are followed, and what was learned stays in the organisation's knowledge.
At a glance
What this service does for you
What it does
Keeps ideas, projects, tasks, approvals and company knowledge in one place, each linked to the next.
What it solves
Ideas get lost in chats, tasks are left without an owner, and the outcome of projects, failed ones included, is never recorded where the next team can learn from it.
An example
A colleague records an idea for automatic answers to repeated questions; colleagues score it, a manager accepts it with a reason, it becomes a project, and its outcome a page in the company's knowledge.
From idea to knowledge
From idea to knowledge, in one product
Record the idea
Record an idea with its category, the problem and the solution.
Colleagues weigh in
Colleagues comment and score; their votes are weighed alongside impact, cost and risk.
A decision with a reason
A manager accepts, postpones or rejects the idea, with the reason recorded.
Delivery
An accepted idea becomes a project or a task, and keeps its link to the idea.
Knowledge
The outcome, even a failure, is recorded in the company's knowledge, with an owner, versions and a review date.
Managing work
Projects, tasks and approval
Projects and boards
Projects with members, a Kanban board, a list and a calendar.
One owner, several contributors
Each task has one accountable owner and several contributors.
Final approval
Approvers accept delivered work under an «all approve» or «one approves» rule.
Two separate times
How long a task stays in each status and the working time logged on it are two separate records.
Multilingual
Like every DiceX service: right-to-left and left-to-right languages.
On the way
Reminders and approvals, on the channel each person reads
DiceTeam is built on DiceX's identity and communication channels. On the way: deadline reminders and pending approvals reach each user on the SMS or messaging app they choose, and the agreed actions of meetings and chosen messages become tasks and knowledge, with a person's approval.
Principles
What holds from day one
Each organisation's data is its own
and each person's access depends on their role.
The value of work is its outcome
The number of messages, time online or the number of actions is not a measure of the value of work.
Rewards are a human decision
Activity figures are evidence for a manager's decision, not an automatic reward formula.
Three separate times
Attendance, logged working time and time spent in a status do not stand in for one another.
Horizon
After the first version
Later versions of DiceTeam reach into human resources: first recruiting and onboarding, with online interviews on DiceMeet, then attendance, leave and performance reviews. An on-premises installation is on the horizon too.
